Often times, as a pet owner, it’s hard to know whether your dog’s condition is a true medical emergency or not… or more importantly, if it warrants getting up in the middle of the night to seek medical attention from a veterinary professional you don’t know.

Dogs definitely go through an adolescent, or young adult, stage. Canine development goes something like this: puppies experience a Rapid Growth Phase somewhere between 8 and 18-20 weeks of age.

For many years I’d been fighting the rumor that poinsettias were deadly to dogs and cats. The “killer-poinsettia” myth apparently started back in 1919 when an Army officer stationed in Hawaii found their two-year old child dead underneath a poinsettia.

The Siberian Husky was used for centuries and centuries to pull the sleds of the Chukchi Tribe on the eastern Siberian peninsula. Huskies were also used for herding reindeer and guarding. Perfectly adapted to the brutal Siberian weather, the Husky is a hardy, thick-coated dog with legendary stamina; he was so prized for his speed that he was brought to Alaska by fur traders for sled dog races.
