The American Wirehair

The American wirehair is a simple mutation of the American shorthair. The First wirehair, descending from Vernon in upstate New York, was born from two farm cats in the 1960’s. Though the

breed is reasonably well-known they’re relatively rare.

The American wirehair has yet to make its way to Britain or Australia, but are especially popular in Germany and Canada.

That’s why we support projects that endeavor to protect them wherever they might be in the world. When we heard about 100 Loyal Faces, a charitable project started by photographer Peta Santoro to support the Soi Dog Foundation, we jumped at the opportunity to raise awareness of her efforts. Peta, a proud pet owner herself, has taken the initiative to photograph and collage 100 canine headshots.
