Valentine’s Day- a cute and beautiful holiday for you to spend with your significant other. But what about the other highly significant others in your life? Your fur babies! Don’t they deserve a holiday like this? Last Valentine's Day I made pupcakes for Harley but this Valentine’s Day I wanted to make sure Harley would have a great day with her boyfriend Mack.
So we got talking and she decided she wanted to make Mack dog biscuits! While looking for pet-friendly recipes we stumbled across one for Cinnamon Honey Hearts Dog Biscuits on Doggingtonpost.com, posted by Brandy Arnold.
Ingredients:
½ cup water
¼ cup of pureed banana
½ plain yogurt (make sure the yogurt does NOT contain any artificial sweeteners, like xylitol)
1 tablespoon honey
1 tablespoon canola oil
1 teaspoon cinnamon
½ cup oat flour
¼ cup rice flour
1 cup wheat flour
Instructions:
In one bowl combine the dry ingredients (cinnamon, oat flour, rice flour and wheat flour), but only use ½ of the wheat flour for now. Set this aside and grab another bowl for the wet ingredients (water, banana, yogurt, honey and canola oil). Once you’ve mixed the wet ingredients together add in the dry ingredients and mix. Once it’s well blended add in the rest of the wheat flour ¼ cup at a time until your dough is nice and stiff.
Flour your surface and roll out the dough to your preferred thickness and use a fun cookie-cutter for the biscuits. Set the oven to 300 degrees and bake for about 30 minutes or until golden brown. A good tip is to leave the biscuits in the oven after shutting it off for a couple hours so they’re 100% dry and crunchy.
Once they cooled down, I let Harley decide if they were good enough for Mack and she approved. As always, make sure all treats are given in moderation. A balanced diet is important for both people and pets! So when February 14th comes around, always include the fur-babies that complete your life, have a happy Valentine’s Day guys!

Many people get their pets gifts for Valentine's Day and they're thanked with a big wet kiss! However, your pets can show you their affections daily, but they can't exactly make you a gift -- until now! Grab a poster board; non-toxic, pet-safe, washable paints -- making sure they don't contain any benzoyl alcohol, henna, or xylitol; and carefully dip your pet's paw into the paint. Let them get creative and paint how much they love you! When finished, wipe off their paws or better yet, give them a bath! If you notice any reactions , wash the paint off immediately with Dawn dishwashing liquid and contact your veterinarian!
