CBS News reports that a golden retriever named Crosby was rescued from the Charles River off of Winding River Road. According to a report from WCVB.com Firefighters in Wellesley, Massachusetts were dispatched to save Crosby after a panicked 911 call was placed by Crosby’s guardian. Apparently she was out for a walk with her golden retriever when the incident occurred. She tried to venture out onto the ice herself and save Crosby but was stopped by firefighters who feared for her safety. The firefighters then tied themselves to the shore and swam out to rescue the dog. WCVB reports that Crosby was dried off and warmed and will be fine. This story is an excellent reminder of how dangerous thin ice can be for our pets. Thankfully, the Wellesley fire department was there to help Crosby.
